Adherence
Also written consistency, compliance
Whether doses were actually taken as planned. The gap between a schedule and a record.
A protocol says what someone intended. Adherence is what happened, and the difference between the two explains more variation in outcome than most of the choices people agonise over.
It is also the thing an n=1 experiment most often fails on quietly: a compound judged useless after eight weeks of intermittent dosing has not been tested, it has been approximated.
This is why a dose log with the gaps left in is more useful than one that has been tidied. The gaps are data.
