Batch number
Also written lot number, lot, peptide batch number
An identifier for one production run, printed on the vial and on the certificate that tests it. Matching the two is what makes the certificate mean anything about the vial in your hand.
A certificate reports on a sample from a specific batch. Without a batch number on both the certificate and the vial, there is no way to know whether the test describes what you have. That reduces the certificate to a graphic.
This is why our vendor directory records whether a seller publishes batch numbers. It is a checkable fact about how they operate, unlike a claim about what is in their product.
It also matters if something goes wrong. A dose history that records which batch it came from can answer a question that a history recording only the compound cannot.
