Injection site
Also written site rotation, rotation
Where on the body an injection is given. Rotating between sites is standard practice for anything given repeatedly.
Abdomen, thigh and the back of the upper arm are the usual subcutaneous sites. Repeated injection into the same spot can change the tissue there, and changed tissue absorbs differently. A consistent dose stops behaving consistently, with nothing in the protocol having changed.
Rotation only works if it is a record, not a memory. This is one of the few places where logging changes the outcome rather than merely describing it, which is why the tracker records the site.
Local redness or stinging is common with several compounds and is not the same thing as a site that has been overused.
