Vial
Also written vials
The small sealed glass container a peptide is sold in, holding a stated mass of freeze-dried powder under a rubber stopper.
The stated mass is the whole basis of every calculation afterwards: it is the numerator in the concentration, so a wrong label makes every dose wrong by the same factor.
Vial sizes are chosen partly to make prices hard to compare. A 10 mg vial at $35 and a 5 mg at $20 are not comparable until you divide. That is why our price index normalises everything per milligram.
The stopper is designed to be punctured repeatedly, but each puncture is an opportunity for contamination. Which is why the water used to reconstitute is bacteriostatic.
